Your Call Answering Hours determine when Abby answers incoming calls live. Coverage options vary depending on whether you use the AI Receptionist, Human Receptionist service, or both.

AI Receptionist Coverage

The AI Receptionist answers calls 24/7 by default.

There is no additional charge for round-the-clock AI coverage.

AI will answer calls at any time and follow your configured call handling instructions.


Human Receptionist Coverage Options

Human Receptionist services offer three coverage configurations:

1. Extended Hours (Included)

Extended Hours provide up to 104 hours per week of live receptionist coverage.

These hours are preset and designed to cover most business needs beyond traditional 9–5 schedules.

  • Pacific

    • 5AM - 9PM Weekdays

    • 6AM - 6PM Weekends

  • Mountain

    • 6AM - 10PM Weekdays

    • 7AM - 7PM Weekends

  • Central

    • 7AM - 11PM Weekdays

    • 8AM - 8PM Weekends

  • Eastern

    • 8AM - Midnight Weekdays

    • 9AM - 9PM Weekends


2. Custom Hours (Included, up to 104 hrs/week)

You may define your own live answering schedule, as long as total coverage does not exceed 104 hours per week.

This allows flexibility such as:

  • Earlier mornings

  • Later evenings

  • Weekend blocks

  • Split shifts


3. 24/7 Live Coverage Add-On ($95/month)

If you want live human receptionists answering calls at all times β€” including nights, weekends, and holidays β€” you can upgrade to 24/7 Live Coverage.

This add-on extends live answering to all 168 hours per week.


What Happens Outside Your Answering Hours?

Calls received outside your configured answering hours can be:

  • Sent to voicemail

  • Routed to an external phone number

Important Distinction

Call Answering Hours control when Abby answers calls live.

They do not override:

  • Contact availability (Status)

  • Transfer settings

  • Call type routing

  • Scheduling rules

If a contact is marked Unavailable, Abby will still follow fallback handling even during active answering hours.


How to Add 24/7 Coverage

  • 24/7 Live Coverage is available as an add-on for all Live Receptionist plans.

  • To enable it, reach out to [email protected].

  • Coverage begins immediately once activated.
