Can I Block a Caller?

If you receive unwanted calls, Abby allows you to block specific numbers so they no longer reach your AI or human receptionist.

Updated this week

Call Blocking keeps your phone lines open for the people who matter most — your customers — while saving you money. By stopping spam, robocalls, and time-wasting interruptions, you cut down on wasted minutes that drive up your bill. With just a tap, you choose whether unwanted callers hear a quick disconnect or wait on hold forever. Either way, you’re in control — and your receptionists (human or AI) can focus on real conversations that help your business grow.

1. Log in to Your Abby Account

2. Navigate to the Call Settings

  • From the dashboard, click Settings in the left menu.

  • Select Call Settings

3. Add the Number to the Block List

  • Click Block Phone Number

  • Enter the full phone number (including area code)

  • You can choose to place the caller on an indefinite hold, where they will remain on hold and never be connected, or reject the call, which immediately ends the connection.

  • Optional: Add a note for why the number is being blocked.

  • Click Save.

4. Confirm the Block

  • The number will now appear in your Blocked Numbers list.

  • Calls from that number will no longer be forwarded to your AI or human receptionist.

Alternate Method: Blocking a Caller from Activities

If you receive a spam call, you can quickly block the number directly from the Activities section.

  1. Log in to the Abby Connect portal or AbbyGo mobile app.

  2. Go to ActivitiesHuman Receptionist Calls or AI Receptionist CallsClick On the Call

  3. Next to Caller Number select Block.

  4. Walk through steps listed above.

Pro Tips

  • Double-check the number before blocking to avoid accidentally blocking legitimate callers.

  • You can unblock a number at any time by going to Blocked Numbers and selecting Delete Call Settings.

Troubleshooting

  • Number still getting through? Ensure you’ve entered it in the correct format (e.g., +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX).
