To route calls from your Google Voice number to your AI receptionist, you’ll need to forward calls to your Abby Assigned Phone Number. This ensures your receptionist(s) can answer and handle calls as intended.
1. Set Up Call Forwarding in Google Voice
Open the Google Voice app or website
Go to Settings > Linked Numbers
Add your Abby Assigned Phone Number (located on your Dashboard) as a linked number
2. Send the Confirmation Code as a Call
Google Voice will send a confirmation code to verify the forwarding number. Important:
Choose to send the code as a call, not a text
Your receptionist will answer the call and capture the code in the Call Summary.
3. Retrieve the Confirmation Code
Once the call is complete (it should only take about a minute), you'll receive a notification from your receptionist (located in the Call Summary for the AI receptionist).
If you are unable to see the code in the message (instead of the code, it may say "The call transcript was empty." or "No input from caller."), you can still find the code very easily:
Log into your portal and find the Activities menu
Locate the call within All Activities or AI Receptionist Calls
Click on the entry and navigate to the Call Transcription tab
Within this call transcript, you will find the code provided by Google.
4. Enter the Code in Google Voice
Return to Google Voice and enter the confirmation code to complete the forwarding setup.
Once verified, calls to your Google Voice number will be routed to your AI receptionist automatically.
