AI and Human Call Coverage

You can choose AI or human call coverage by time of day—custom forwarding or hybrid setups offer flexible options.

Abby Connect allows businesses to use AI receptionists, human receptionists, or a combination of both to answer incoming calls.

By default, the AI Receptionist is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

However, some businesses prefer different coverage arrangements depending on the time of day.


Coverage Options

There are two common ways to control when AI or human receptionists answer calls.

Custom Call Forwarding

With custom forwarding, your phone carrier controls when calls are sent to Abby.

For example:

  • During business hours, calls ring your office directly.

  • After hours, calls forward to your AI Receptionist.

This option is managed entirely through your phone provider’s call forwarding settings.

AI and Human Hybrid Coverage

If you use both AI Receptionist and Human Receptionist services, Abby can route calls between them based on a defined schedule.

Example:

  • Human receptionists answer calls from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • AI Receptionist answers calls after hours and on weekends

To configure hybrid coverage, contact Client Support with your preferred schedule.

Note: Hybrid coverage requires an active Human Receptionist service plan.


Important Notes

The AI Receptionist remains available outside of human receptionist hours.

If hybrid coverage is configured, calls will automatically route according to the schedule set for your account.
