What Call Forwarding Does

Call forwarding sends incoming calls from your business number to another number — in this case, your Abby Assigned Phone Number.

This lets Abby answer calls on your behalf using your existing business number.

You can find your Abby Assigned Phone Number in your Dashboard under:

  • Abby Assigned Phone Number(s)

That number is unique to your account and routes calls directly to your Abby Receptionist service.

Types of Call Forwarding

1. Forward All Calls (Unconditional Forwarding)

Every call to your number is automatically sent straight to Abby.
✅ Best if Abby should always answer first.

2. Conditional Forwarding (Carrier-Dependent)

Calls forward only when:

  • You don’t answer

  • Your line is busy

  • Your phone is turned off or out of range

💡 Ask your phone carrier if conditional forwarding is supported.

How to Set It Up

  1. Decide how you want to forward calls
Choose whether to forward all calls or just under certain conditions.

  2. Get your Abby Assigned Number
You’ll need it to complete setup. It’s in your portal Dashboard.

  3. Contact your phone carrier

    • Ask how to activate call forwarding.

    • They’ll provide exact steps or short codes (like *72 to forward and *73 to cancel).

    • You can often enable forwarding from your carrier’s mobile app or website, or even from the device itself.

  4. Test your setup
Call your main business number from another phone.

    • If Abby answers — you’re live!

    • If not, check with your carrier to confirm forwarding is active.

Important Notes

  1. Abby can’t enable forwarding for you — only your carrier can.

  2. If you manage your phone system through a provider app (like RingCentral or GoTo), you can typically activate forwarding directly in their dashboard.

  3. If something doesn’t work, your carrier can verify that your forwarding settings are correct.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if forwarding is active?

Call your main business line. If Abby answers, forwarding is working!

2. Can I choose when to forward calls?

Yes. With conditional forwarding, you can choose when to forward (for example, only when unanswered). Your carrier can help you configure this.

3. Does call forwarding cost extra?

Usually no, but forwarded calls may use your plan’s minutes or incur small charges. Check with your carrier for details.

4. Can I turn forwarding off anytime?

Yes — dial your carrier’s deactivation code (commonly *73) or use your carrier’s app or dashboard to disable it anytime.
